Our regional workers’ compensation practice, one of the largest in the state, has for over 30 years offered a full spectrum of legal, consulting and risk management services to self-insured and commercially insured businesses in a wide variety of industries, as well as to third-party administrators, throughout Pennsylvania. We serve our clients in every workers’ compensation venue in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A number of our lawyers have concentrated experience in related areas such as the Federal Employees Labor Act (FELA), the Longshoremen and Harborworkers Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA), Jones Act and occupational hearing loss. Additionally, two of our lawyers restrict their practices to matters pending before the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board, Commonwealth Court and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
A close association with the firm’s employment and employee relations lawyers enables us to collaboratively address and resolve the broader employment issues that so often arise in workers’ compensation cases. This enables us as well to offer multi-disciplinary training and consulting services to our employer clients.
Our tradition includes a commitment to education. Kenneth F. DeMarco, the founder and recently retired member of the department, developed for the Insurance Society of Philadelphia a semester course in workers’ compensation law, designed for claims and risk management professionals. Several of our lawyers participated in the preparation of the text for that course, and now serve as Insurance Society faculty members.
We are frequent contributors to legal and business periodicals and to accredited continuing legal education programs. As part of our client service, we regularly assist with the training and continuing education of individual clients and other members of the industry. We also offer consulting services supporting our clients’ statutory and regulatory compliance efforts.
Our lawyers are also active in the legislative and regulatory processes, and we participate at the state and local levels as members of associations and committees germane to our practice, in an effort to share important information and as part of our responsibility of leadership in the industry.
